Stash Report -November 14, 2010

It's a cool, sunny morning in Arizona!  I finally broke down yesterday and put the flannel sheets on the bed - we haven't turned the furnace on yet.  The two weeks we had with my son's dogs were wonderful.  We did exactly what grandparents do - we loved, cuddled, held and loved them up some more.  I am sure they went home totally spoiled!!!  My fall house cleaning got a good a start yesterday - on to another room today!!  I've almost finished inventorying the freezer in the garage and have an Excel Spreadsheet almost done.  It's so nice to know what is in there  - thank you, Judy, for mentioning it in your blog.  Now, down to the business at hand!

Fabric added:  0  yards
Fabric used:  2.25 yards
YTD added:  4 yards
YTD used:  484.25 yards
Net used:  480.25 yards

This week I finished binding the I Spy quilt, and cut the strips for the centers of the next quilt.  In my scrap basket I found a pile of 4" and 5" square blocks.  I've sewed these into rows, and have a very colorful bag made for the Bag for Kids Project.  It used a yard of scraps.  I didn't count the fabrics for the next I Spy quilt, I'll do that in the end - but have 10 blocks made, ready to be pressed and trimmed.  It takes 70 - 8" blocks  for an I Spy Quilt.  The one I started Friday will go to AVIVA next fall.

We took 10 baby quilts down to AVIVA on Friday - I have 7 more baby quilts and 1 twin quilt to donate next week.  The following week we will take down the stuffed elephants, some toys and socks for the Christmas gift program.

I am participating in the Sock Knit Along.  I started and competed a pair of slipper socks for my DIL, knitted her a shawl (three done for various Christmas gifts) and crocheted a scalloped edge on it last night.  I have made a pair of toddlers socks on DPN's to donate - and hope to make at least two more pair before the end of the month.  Judy's Sock Knit Along is helping me with motivation. I have a large supply of baby yarn - I thought it would be great for socks to donate to AVIVA.

I am close to my fabric usage goal for this year and am thinking about next year!  Fabric usage, sock knitting, and my donation projects -- this is the first time I have ever established handwork/sewing goals.  It's nice to be organized!!

I hope you all have a good week and that your holiday projects are coming together.   Check out Judy's blog to see what everyone else is doing.

  1. Oh my gosh! You've only added four yards of fabric to your stash this WHOLE YEAR????

  2. If you've only added 4 yards and used over 400 yards, how to match that kind of goal for the next year? I'm with Tamera, I want to be like you when I grow up!!
