Stash Report - Week 7 -2011

I've had a miserable cold, more stay home time equals more time in the sewing room.  I've made progress and am not complaining.  Sometimes things happen for a reason!  Here's my numbers:

Added:  0 yards
Used:  28.50 yards
YTD Added:  0 yards
YTD Used:  36.50 yards
Stash Used:  36.50 yards

I corrected an error made earlier in the year - I had recorded the amount used for the week but did not include it in the total.  This week I computed the fabric used for the January Monochromatic challenge (yellow) and I have complete the top for the February Monochromatic challenge (lilac).

My lilac quilt was made using the pattern by Atkinsons Designs Yellow Brick Road.  I had made the blocks a few years ago and never did anything with them.  When Judy said the color was lilac, I remembered I had these blocks.  I haven't checked to see if this was on my UFO list - if so, I'll replace it with something else.

The lighting wasn't the best, but late in the day, it was the best I could do.  I hope to sandwich this quilt and the January quilt today.  DH will put the roll of batting on the table for me - full rolls of Warm and Natural are too heavy for me to lift.  With NASCAR starting I'll have more quilting time - DH likes it when I sit with him while he watches the race.  I enjoy them to a point and usually leave in the middle to go to the sewing room.  I'm going to try and do better this year.  More hand quilting will get done.

The socks from the Bugga yarn have been completed  and  the skein of baby yarn has been used.  That fulfills my February goal on the knitting front..  I started a shawl for a gift for a friend.  The pattern  is the Honest Warmth Shawl from Lion Brand yarns.  It's an easy all knit pattern - no purling involved.  I made three of these shawls last fall for Christmas gifts  It knits up quickly.  I don't have one, but my friend Viola tells me it is very lightweight and warm.  I crochet around the edge with a shell pattern but it isn't required.

I am very pleased with my week.  I am feeling better, the numbers are looking good and the Arizona weather is getting back to normal.  This was what the fountain at my front door looked like last week:

and in the backyard:

Both fountains were frozen solid to the bottom.  They have thawed, but there were a few birds that did some ice skating across the front fountain.  The birds think it is there own bird bath!!!!

I hope you have all had a good week in the sewing room.  Check out Judy's  blog to see how every one is doing!
